On Sunday afternoon, our good friends Sienna and Jack, who live in Sechelt, B.C., hosted a potluck dinner for some friends at their beautiful home here in Desert Hot Springs. Sienna and Jack had rented this same home to friends for the month of February while they moved into the Sands with their trailer. Although Sienna will continue to come to the Wednesday Quilting Club here at the Sands she still wanted to host a little “good-bye party”.

Like most RV’ers, we never pass up any reason for a good party – especially when it promises to have great food. The Quilting Ladies quickly organized appetizers, salads and desserts while Sienna cooked an absolutely fantastic Pork Roast. The guys took care of the chairs and the liquid refreshments for the most part.
It was nice to get some shade on Sienna and Jack’s patio![]()
Sienna and Jack’s home is in a gated community right near the town of Desert Hot Springs. All the homes are brand new and after living in our 5’er now for a few months it was quite fun to walk through a house with different rooms, a really big refrigerator, oven and even a dishwasher – wow! Of course, there was also a large washer and dryer – all the comforts of home for sure!

The only problem we had was getting past the security gate at the entrance to the compound. The codes we had didn’t seem to work but after several futile attempts to open the gates we were saved when Jack arrived at the entrance to let us in. Soon after that, we were all sitting outside on their patio enjoying the bright sunny day.
No description necessary – but, it was all good!![]()
One of the things I find interesting about getting together with a group of folks from the same RV Park we’re staying in is that I find out a whole bunch of things I never knew and some I never even imagined. I guess in a park with over 500 sites it stands to reason there is lots of stuff going on so it was interesting and fun to listen to all of the different stories about “life in the RV Park”!
This Strawberry Cheesecake was absolutely as good as it looks!![]()
Paulette did the laundry yesterday morning and when she came back she strongly suggested I buy myself some new shorts for wearing with my t-shirt and sandals uniform. Rather than argue, I hopped into our truck drove down to WalMart and found the exact same Wrangler brand shorts I like in no time. Much to Paulette’s surprise I was back within 30 minutes with 3 new pairs of shorts!! No problem!
We were back home at the Sands just before it was beginning to get dark. Molly and Rylie heard the truck and loudly welcomed us home. We just spent the rest of the evening watching a few TV shows and browsing on our computers.
Have a great Monday, and thanks again for visiting!
Looks like another great day with friends, life doesn't get any better than that. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteGosh that food looks good. Especially those cakes!!!
ReplyDeletePaulette sounds just like me. Sometimes when I do laundry some of Ken's old Tshirts will just 'disappear'. Don't know what happens to them, poof they're gone. Must be the washing machine gremlin!!
Love those kind of good bye parties, such great food.
ReplyDeleteThose desserts look wonderful! Looks like a fun party!
ReplyDeleteGet togethers with like minded folks, involving good food, usually means a fun time. The photos seem to validate that.
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is watering over those desserts. No wonder you love pot lucks.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder California is ranked "so happy" when you are all eating like that!
ReplyDeleteYou are making me hungry!
ReplyDeleteYou've been pretty busy with all that activity. Do you feel like you're on the run all the time? I hope you were given a baggie to take home some of that good looking food.
ReplyDeleteWow looks like great eats:)
ReplyDeleteWow, I didn't know there were 500 sites in that park...That's the size of some towns in Southern Illinois!...Great looking party...the food was pretty and colorful, just as one would expect in California!
ReplyDeleteAny reason to party is reason enough for us. I just put on another pound looking at those desserts.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great party, and a nice home. Sounds like your clothes shopping was a no-nonsense event!
ReplyDeleteCome on, tell the truth! The reason you went and bought new shorts was you needed a larger size after eating all that food. ;c)
ReplyDeleteNot true!! But it is getting pretty close.
DeleteTell me more about that last fruit dish in the photos. Does it have cake on the bottom, pie shell? Looks fantastic as does all the rest.
ReplyDeletePaulette brought that dessert. It has a crumb type pie crust on the bottom and the middle is custard with the fruit on top - it is dee-lish-us!!
DeleteOh yum! Did you get the shorts with the pockets on the side of the legs? So many RV guys wear those. Nice for all your "stuff"
ReplyDeleteYes, that's exactly the style they are!
DeleteWhy does food always look so good in pictures? You had me longing to be at that table. Food and good friends--great combination. I think what makes pot lucks so nice is that you get to try such a variety of good things to eat. I love the cookbooks that are recipes donated from different people--churches have them, probably some RV groups have them. I've gotten some good ones from the different forum groups. Glad you had a great day.
ReplyDeletePotlucks are always such a fun time. Lots of food, fun, and fellowship. What more could you want? Paulettes dessert looks really yummy.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty relaxed looking group of people!
