A Beautiful Day & Blogger’s Two New Photo Icons

Our Palm Springs winter of 5 ‘not so great’ weather days ended on Friday with a return to blue skies, sunshine and no wind.  In fact, yesterday was a darn near perfect day from sunrise to sunset.  It was pretty evident here at the Sands RV Resort right from the get-go this morning as the streets were full of folks out walking and the dog park was full of pups as early as 8am.  Everyone was enjoying the sunshine!

Paulette, Sandy and Jennifer went off on a shopping trip Friday, leaving the park at 10am.  Although Paulette never said where they were going nor how long they might be, it surprised me a bit when they didn’t roll in to the park until 5:10pm.  I was surprised, but not shocked as I’m never shocked when it comes to shopping trips.  How can they all walk around stores for so long?

After almost a full week off, I managed to get in a game of golf with Gary Friday afternoon.  Maybe I should take more time off as I hit the ball better than I have since I started golfing again just a few months ago.  Just one more puzzle and question to add to the endless number of puzzles and questions about golf.  I’ll be very interested to see if this continues during my next outing.

When it comes to blogging issues, perhaps nothing raises more questions than the issue of photos.  By this I mean everything from how to insert, size and position photos in a blog to another more serious problem – the mysterious red ‘X’ in place of a photo!  This would quite often lead to a bit of panic with bloggers thinking their photos had vanished into cyberspace never to be seen again.

Not long ago, Google made some changes to photos hosted on Picasa to replace the dreaded red ‘X’ with two diagnostic icons which display depending on two common problems which caused the photos to be missing from a blog.  These two common problems are:

1.  Photo deleted from Picasa (Google+) after posting to blog

Picasa Deleted Photo Symbol

2. Photo made private in Picasa (G+) after posting to blog

Picasa Private Photo Symbol

Please note, the above icons are simply the symptoms of and not the problems themselves.  Deleting albums and photos as well as making them private has become more of an issue with the integration of Picasa Web Albums and Google+ Photos.  If you’ve made an album private, that’s not a big deal as you can easily change that.  It’s not the same if you’ve deleted a photo or an album as then you are totally out of luck unless you have backups that you can reload.

So really, all these two new icons do is let you know what the problem is and then it’s up to you to figure out how to fix it.

Have a great Saturday, and thanks again for visiting!

  3. Sometimes 7 hours isn't even enough time to do a good shopping job! We have to take a close look at everything.

  5. Since I don't use piccasa, I don't have to worry about whether my things are deleted or public.

But I don't know how anyone can shop that much. I'm allergic. Break out in hives after 15 minutes in a mall or 45 in a grocery store.

  7. It seems like all the tech stuff leads to more tech stuff that leads to more headaches:) I have to admit that I almost never look at my Picasa albums or do any reorganizing of them. It is just a file I have to have and now pay for to have photos in the blog:)

  10. Love that first picture of the wash with the mountains in the background. I can see why you were enjoying a perfect day. I'd rather be at the park than in a store!!

  11. geesh! Every time I try to leave a comment on other blogs and get those TWO words to spell out - I think of you and silently thank you for recommending doing away with that qualification. I simply can NEVER read one of the words. The second attempt the lettering is clearer. i am about to give up leaving comments on some blogs.

  12. Great information once again. I have not ran into the picture problem yet, but I'm sure I will, as I haven't figured out this whole Picasa thing. I will be sharing your verification information on my blog, hope you don't mind, as I can not stand or understand the reasoning for it. We have enjoy becoming a new follower and your post.
