A Brothers and Sisters Reunion Lunch

A few weeks ago, Paulette got a phone call from her oldest brother, Glen, who said he thought it was about time all of the siblings got together for a mini-reunion.  Glen called it a mini-reunion because it was just for the 2 brothers, 3 sisters and their spouses – no children or grandchildren.  Also, it was to be a no-work, no-fuss type of thing as we were just going to meet for lunch at a restaurant.

I managed to get everyone to pause for a second for a family pictureIMG_3189

It worked for us, especially since the place they chose for lunch was the Cobblestone Inn which is very close to us in Cobble Hill.  Cobble Hill is halfway between Nanaimo, where Glen lives, and Victoria where Arlene is.  Paulette’s other sister, Emmella, as well as her twin brother live right here in the Cowichan Valley.

We drove over to the Cobblestone just before noon yesterday to find the others already there and having a good time.  Unfortunately, Arlene had a case of the flu, so she and her husband, Ferd, couldn’t make it up from Victoria.

Paulette’s newest Quilting creation – notice the nice socks, sans holes, at the bottom?quilt

Despite it’s location, just 5 minutes from our house and very close to the dog park that we take Molly and Rylie to every day, I had never, ever set foot in the Cobblestone Pub.  The Cobblestone is a pub-type restaurant and was a lot bigger than I thought it would be.  The prices were very reasonable and the food was great.  I had a Cajun-Chicken Clubhouse while Paulette opted for a bowl of Clam Chowder and Cheese Toast – both of which were very good.

After lunch, Paulette and I went home, picked up Molly and Rylie and headed right back to Cobble Hill to take the muttzo’s to the dog park for a good run around.  It had rained all morning, but we were lucky because just as we were getting near the park, the rain stopped and the sun came peeking out for the first time all day.  We ended up staying at the park for about 30 minutes to give the pups a good run.

Booster_Antenna

I ordered a Booster Antenna on Friday, from the 3Gstore, for my Verizon USB760 Air Card.  It ships with a 3’ 7” cable that plugs directly into the USB760.  The antenna has a stand to allow it to sit vertically and also has two suction cups so it can be easily mounted on a vehicle windshield or in an RV.

This particular Booster Antenna costs $48 and is meant to improve signal reception in areas where the Verizon cellular network may be limited.  The fact that the USB760 has an antenna port is one of the major reasons why I chose it over the Verizon MiFi device which does not include an external antenna port.  Hopefully, this external antenna will help to provide a consistent, strong signal in poor reception areas.  We all know they are out there!

Have a great Sunday, and thanks for visiting!

That's an interesting looking antennae & first time I've seen one like that. We opted for the much talked about 'Wilson' Truckers antennae last winter. Tried it twice & it never worked either time. Hope you have much better luck with your booster antennae.

The quilt is gorgeous! What talent Paulette has.

I will be very interested to hear how the antenna works for you. I have another year to go on my air card, but by then there should be something out there that will work consistently well for me.

Good Morning... Tell Paulette that her quilt is just gorgeous... I have a bunch of squares made but never have put them together... Glad you mini reunion was so nice... She has a pretty good size family. Thanks for the info on your antenna... We use the At&t Serria 881 and I went to your site and found the antenna for it. Thanks for the hook up! Have a great day...

Very nice looking quilt and socks :-) I also see a little black and white tail. At first I wondered what was on the floor next to the feet. Good luck with your antenna.
